Ahead lies doom.

Since we don’t normally have much gaming coverage, I figured I’d drop you a little gem on first-person-shooter evolution. It’s not straight-up evolution, mind you, but rather evolution crafted by the mind of John Carmack.

The article in question covers more than just Carmack’s games, but discusses a few important issues pertaining to game engines, such as lighting and collision detection. In the end, I have no doubt that Doom III, the latest Carmack masterpiece, will be a stunning example of gaming technology, but as was common in his last few titles, the game itself will be somewhat lacking.
