Big Brother brings word of research aimed at reading the minds of airplane passengers, or, more specifically, the minds of people intending to walk on an airplane.
The idea would be to read brain and heart patterns in a non-intrusive fashion, such that screeners can pinpoint what areas of the brain are engaged in thought, and by comparing readings with a huge database of sample data, infer what the passenger is thinking about.
Fortunately, the research is still at a theoretical stage, given that current monitoring systems of this nature require direct contact with the head and/or body. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised if a non-contact version of this system were made available in a few years, even if it did pull up a lot of false positives.
