It turns out that Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO) has been released, and from the reviews I’ve read, the game appears to be meh. On the one hand, people think the game is beautiful, and ironically, compare the gameplay to Diablo. On the other hand, complaints point at useless gameplay combat “improvements”, an overzealousness of “portals” for the game’s content, and the inability to solo through the game.
Given that I do not upgrade my computer every two weeks like the many fledgling geeks who fed on paper/pencil D&D to become big, grown-up geeks, and that there is no way I can draw my friends away from the beast that is the World of Warcraft, I’ll sadly have to pass on DDO. Besides, DDO’s Rogue class isn’t as cool as they said it would be, which would only disappoint me if I played.
