I say it ate the gold because I can’t quite find it, and yet Drake’s Brewing Company cleary claims that their beer is a “Gold Metal Winner”. I’m not saying the beer is bad mind you, because it’s pretty delectible, but I wouldn’t give it any of my hard-plundered gold, either.
As much as I like beer that depicts a galleon (which reminds me of pirates), I don’t think I’ll be picking this brew up on a regular basis. It’s nice that the brew is native to San Francisco, but there are other natives that easily surpass Drake’s. The 7% alcohol content is a nice balance, but even with a slight buzz, the plastic label that surrounds the bottle looks somewhat cheap, even though the graphics themselves are nice. I give this baby a 6/10.
