I thank CBS for the idea behind FreeFM, in that there’s one channel I can tune into when I don’t have my Sirius tuner with me to listen to decent talk radio. For instance, the Adam Carolla Show has trumped my desire to listen to Howard Stern, and Tom Leykis keeps me reasonably entertained on my drive home from work in the late afternoon. However, a disturbing trend has shown up on CBS’ talk station, and that’s the playing of clips from older episodes of the Adam Carolla Show. This would be fine, as the clips are generally entertaining, but then they’re promptly cut off with an advertisement to download the Adam Carolla Show podcast to hear the rest of the clip. Again, not a horrid practice, but the clips played are not the length of a typical commmercial. Rather, the clips are multiple minutes long, to the point where they fool the listener into thinking the actual show is playing. This is compounded further when these advertisements are played in-between actual segments of the Adam Carolla Show in the mornings.
If I wanted to download your silly podcast, Carolla, I’d do so, but I have other talk radio to listen to, such as your own damn show. Do you really think your listeners are so boring as to need your podcasts so they can listen to neanderthal Danny Bonaduce throughout the day? Advertise your podcast by mentioning it now and again, but stop with the unnecessary propaganda.
